Shared Ride Van Program
The Shared Ride Van Program is designed to offer more specialized accessible van transportation to Schuylkill County residents who are primarily senior citizens aged 65 and over.
All individuals must be registered with STS before receiving transportation services. For registration information please contact us or call the Office of Senior Services at (570) 622-3103.
The Pennsylvania Lottery Program subsidizes 85% of the cost for this program for passengers 65 years of age and older.
Registered senior citizens who qualify under Schuylkill County's Office of Senior Services can travel to the following destinations for a discounted fare of $1.00 each way.

Additional Pennsylvania Lottery subsidized Shared Ride van trips are available for any senior citizen to the following destinations at a fare of $1.95 for a trip of less than 10 miles each way or $2.10 for a trip of greater than 10 miles each way.

The co-pay is $3.15 each way for seniors 65+ years of age.
RESERVATIONS

STS requires the following information EVERY time you call to make a reservation, for each passenger:

NOTIFY STS if the passenger is in a wheelchair and needs a lift vehicle.
NOTIFY STS of any special instructions, directions or assistance.
STS ESCORT POLICY

STS welcomes at no additional charge one escort for each wheelchair passenger and/or one escort for each ambulatory passenger accompanied by a physician's note. Since seating is limited you are required to notify us at the time of making your reservation that you will be accompanied by an escort. Escorts without a note from a physician will be charged an escort fee of $2.00.
STS makes every effort to accommodate all our passengers we ask you to please keep the following points in mind:

- PLEASE have the exact fare ready
- ALL passengers over age 65 are eligible for PA Lottery subsidized Shared Ride Trips
- PROOF of age required. The Pennsylvania Lottery Program regulations require that all seniors 65 years of age and over must provide one of the following age verification documents when registering for this program: Armed Forces discharge/separation papers, baptismal certificate, birth certificate, veterans universal access identification card, resident alien card, PACE identification card, passport/naturalization papers, Pennsylvania identification card, photo motor vehicle operator's license, and statement of age from U.S. Social Security Administration
- ALL van trips are coordinated on a Shared Ride basis, according to pick up and destination areas, appointment times, and vehicle availability
- ALL scheduling priority is given to medical appointments
- ALL side trips (to the drug store, bank, etc.) must be scheduled in advance and are subject to appropriate fare structures
- ALL reservations must be called in before 11:00 AM of the business day prior to the trip (for example, 11:00 AM Friday for a Monday appointment)
- ALL pick up times are approximate as they are subject to road, weather and traffic conditions
- ALL passengers depend on the courtesy of others
- PLEASE be ready 15 minutes before your scheduled pick up
